BOSCAWEN - Mark Sampson, 67, has been taken from us by glioblastoma.
Born to Paul and Virginia Sampson, Mark grew up in Boscawen and attended local schools. He married his highschool sweetheart, Kathy.
Mark worked with his dad and eventually took over the family business of Sampson Memorial, engraving headstones and fixing monuments in the area. He eventually worked for many years at E.D. Swett in Concord, a job that gave him a lot of pride. His later years brought him other opportunities; he worked construction and plowing jobs with the Davis family in Penacook, and ended at Market Basket as an easier gig prior to retirement.
Mark enjoyed spending time with his wife and was known for how well he took care of her. He made her lunch every day for work, cleaned the snow off her truck, and pumped her gas for the entirety of her life. He loved going for long drives, food, his motorcycle, riding snow machines with friends. He always made time to take the grandkids for rides in the yard, wrapping them in blankets on cold days.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his wife of 44 years. No stranger to loss, he has said goodbye to a lot of family and friends throughout the years, including his siblings Richard Picard, Ralph Picard, and Paula Sampson. He leaves behind his children, Katie & Brian Guinard of Franklin and Hollee Sampson of Boscawen, and grandsons Devin, Collin, Henry, and Baxter. He's also survived by a sister, Bonnie Picard, of St. Petersburg, FL, and a sister in law, Joanne Picard of Clearwater, FL. He leaves behind beloved in-laws from Kathy's family, nieces, nephews, and a gang of very close friends who became his chosen family and stepped up in every possible way.
Please share your memories of Mark and Kathy in writing with Katie and Hollee. They would love to have memories to share with the kids. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Sunday, December 11th from 12 to 3 P.M. at Alan's of Boscawen, 133 N. Main St. in Boscawen.
