Hubert Mask, Jr. Obituary

PITTFIELD - Mr. Hubert C. Mask Jr., 74, of Pittsfield, NH passed away on August 08, 2022, in Epsom, NH.

Born in Little Rock, AR, Hubert was the son of Hubert C. Mask Sr. and Julia Mask (Smith).  He was raised in DeValls Bluff, AR.  In his early years, Hubert earned the honor of being an Eagle Scout through the BSA and later served in the United States Air Force, Sergeant (VIETNAM).  Hubert attended Purdue University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree and then his Master of Arts Degree from Western Illinois University.  Hubert was also a die-hard Purdue Boilermakers fan and loved to watch them play basketball and football.  “Boiler Up!”

In 1968, he began his law enforcement career as a Special Agent with the Chicago Rock Island Railroad Police.  In 1974, he joined the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Police Department, now known as the BNSF Railway Police.  He was the Division Special Agent (Captain), retiring after 19 years of service.  In 1987, Hubert and his family moved to London, ONT, Canada where he worked for the United Parcel Service (UPS) as a Loss Prevention, Security Supervisor and later retired from the Fifth Third Bank (Chicago, IL) as a Fraud Investigator (Certified Fraud Examiner).  Hubert retired in 2012 after a long and successful career.  Hubert was well respected in his professions.

During his retirement years, Hubert was an avid Model Railroader and owned a small decal business, MASK ISLAND DECALS.  His love for trains and model railroading was something that he maintained throughout his life up until his passing.  In 2014, Hubert moved to New Hampshire with his wife Faizah.  Almost immediately, he joined the brothers at the Islamic Society of Greater Concord where he was quickly thrust into the role of President of the Islamic Society of Greater Concord from 2014-2021.  Members of the Islamic community greatly respected and loved Hubert writing the following in his honor, “Due to his dedication and leadership, we moved from renting to owning our own mosque.  He traveled around the country doing fundraisers to build it.  He fought tirelessly to establish a center to make Muslims feel welcomed and included in our community.”  “Brother Hubert was a fervent Muslim, an outstanding leader, planner, fighter, and community champion.  He will be missed dearly.”

Hubert is survived by his wife Faizah; children, Samantha Cantrell her husband Alan Cantrell, Hubert Clifford Mask, III his wife Kelly Mask, Sean Mask his fiancé Kristine Bell, Noor Sayers, and her husband James Sayers.  Most importantly and most dear to his heart were his six grandchildren, Jackson Cantrell, twins Liam and Brennan Mask, Riley Mask, Chloe Sayers, and Dillon Mask.  Words can’t express how much Hubert is loved and missed by all.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH where Hubert was laid to rest on August 10, 2022, or the Wounded Warrior Project to help veterans suffering from PTSD in all forms.
