Doris Shackford Obituary

HOOKSETT- Doris C. Shackford was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 93 years of life. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, January 21, 2022, surrounded by her children and grandchildren softly singing her favorite songs as she gained her angel wings to join her late husband, Bill.

Born on May 8, 1928, in Pembroke, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Senneville) Dion.

Doris was educated in the local schools and graduated High School from Pembroke Academy where she met the love of her life the late (Bill) William H. Shackford. They were married for 70 years. Doris, worked in the Suncook Mills when she was younger and before her retirement worked for Kathy Lee Bakery in Hooksett. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and reading. Doris was a very shy and quiet lady with a kind sole. Doris developed Alzheimer’s which made life difficult for her. After the passing of her husband, we were truly fortunate to have two very special caregivers to keep her in her home, Patrick Kelley, and Kayla Dors. We were able to have fourteen more months of fun memories and laughs with her. She may not have remembered our names, but she knew that we loved her.

She is survived by her four children: Elizabeth Shackford of New Boston, Lorne Shackford, and his wife Tammy Shackford of Rome GA. Kathleen C Shackford and her husband Robert Cochran of Hooksett, NH Sandra McSwain and her husband Gary McSwain of Adairsville, GA. Her six grandchildren: Angie Prentiss- Birch and her husband Howard Birch of Highland, NY., Brian Shackford of Manchester, NH., Julie Bell and her husband Brian Bell of Rome, GA., Sara Kelley of Manchester, NH., Shannon Kelley of Londonderry, NH., Patrick Kelley of Hooksett, NH., eight great grandchildren and one great great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her youngest sister Germaine Richard of Allenstown and predeceased oldest sister Florence Courtemanche.
