Theresa Campbell Obituary

PEMBROKE- Mrs. Theresa E. “Terry” “La Gil” (Gilbert) Campbell, 97, of Pembroke, passed away on August 11, 2018.

She was born in Allenstown on October 19, 1920, the first child of Ernest and Marie Anne (Brousseau) Gilbert.

After her marriage to Rodaulph “Rudy” Campbell on April 6, 1940, they moved to Quincy, MA.  There, Terry sewed for the U.S. Navy while her husband welded for the Quincy Naval Ship Yard.  During her time in MA, Terry attended Wilfred’s Beauty Academy in Boston and for many years, friends came to her kitchen for home perms.  After the war ended, she and her husband returned to Pembroke and with family, started Suncook Auto Body and later Rudy’s Welding Shop.  She was known for her open table at meal time and fed anyone who was hungry at any time.

In her life, Terry loved sewing and was an excellent seamstress.  Often times, she would be called on by friends to help with difficult sewing projects.  She sewed for the NRA in Pembroke where she designed and won an award for her wedding gown.  In their free time, Terry and Rudy danced to the big bands in Boston and later at the Carousel Ballroom in Manchester.

Theresa was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown where she was a member of the St. Therese Rosebush Society and the Ladies of Ste. Anne.  She also belonged to the Pembroke M & M.

On April 3, 1983, Terry retired from Sprague Electric in Concord, after working there for 23 years.  She had also worked for several Manchester shoe shops and Textron.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Rodaulph “Rudy” Campbell, her sister, Rita Lemay, and brothers, Gerard, Roger, Bernard, Lucien, and A. Claude Gilbert and Robert Gamache.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia, and her son, Mark who was her primary caretaker for many years.  She also leaves her sister, Elizabeth Plante of Cape Elizabeth, ME as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, August 16th from 9 to 10:30 A.M. in the Petit-Roan Funeral Home 167 Main St. in Pembroke.
