EPSOM- Mr. Alfred G. Bickford, 85, of Epsom, passed away at home on November 11, 2018 after a period of declining health.
Born in Concord, Al was the son of the late Alfred and Helen (Brown) Bickford. A lifelong resident of Epsom, he was a graduate of Pembroke Academy Class of 1951 and later graduated from the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Manchester.
Mr. Bickford was a Veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country for eight years during the Korean Conflict and beyond.
He was employed as a production engineer for Sprague Electric and Aerotronic and later founded his own business, Bickford & Son. He later went on to work in the maintenance division of General Electric from which he retired.
Mr. Bickford was the twice past master of the Corinthian Lodge No. 82 F&AM in Pittsfield. He was also recognized in 1974 as Epsom’s Citizen of the Year and was a past Captain of the Epsom Volunteer Fire Department.
He was predeceased by his son, Howard Bickford, who passed away earlier this year.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joyce (Allen) Bickford; his daughter, Mary-Jane Bickford of Epsom; and his son, Mark Bickford of Loudon. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
A Calling Hour will be held on Friday, November 16th from 2 to 3 P.M. in the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom. A Funeral Service will follow at 3 P.M. Services will conclude with a Masonic Service at 5 P.M. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
