BARNSTEAD - Paul Ivar Malm, Jr., 71, of Barnstead, NH (originally Holbrook, MA), died on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Paul loved the land he lived on and took great pride in the house he built on Garland Rd. with his friends. Always one to welcome a visitor (friend or stranger), his door was always open, his table was always full, and his glass was never empty. Paul was born in Chelsea, MA on January 12, 1953, to Paul I. and Constance J. Malm. Paul loved working on cars with his father and grandfather, running around with his friends and playing football and baseball which earned him his childhood nickname, Tricky. He attended Blue Hills Regional Technical School, where he studied to become a machinist. Upon graduation, Paul enlisted in the Navy where he served proudly during the Vietnam War conflict until 1973 when he was honorably discharged as a 3rd Class Boiler Man. After the Navy, Paul apprenticed the plumbing and heating trade, ultimately forming his own company, Midnight Oil in Boston. He remained self-employed in the industry for the entirety of his life and was a member of numerous trade organizations.
The loves of Paul’s life were his children and grandchildren. Paul was preceded to heaven by two of his children: Paul Malm of Barnstead, NH, and Tiarma Malm also of Barnstead, NH. He is survived by three children: Adam Malm and husband Zack of Blue Ridge, GA, Kristy Malm and husband David of Austin, TX, and Jesse Malm and wife Madison, of Chesapeake, VA; his sister Karen Hucksam of Whitman, MA; his brother Philip Malm of Rockland, MA; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
