PEMBROKE – Leo E. Messier, 92, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at The Birches at Concord.
He was born on February 26, 1925 in Manchester, the son of the late Alfred and Melvina (Marcotte) Messier.
Leo served his country in the United States Marine Corps before his honorable discharge as a Corporal in 1945. After his years in the Marine Corps, he worked for many years as a carpenter for Harvey’s, Don Manter and Volpe Construction and retired from the State of New Hampshire. Mr. Messier was a lifetime member of the Alpine Club. Prior to several years of declining health, Leo spent winters at Crystal Lake Village in Wauchula, Florida where he enjoyed playing cards, pool and weekly dances.
Leo is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rollande (Noel) Messier, his son, Richard Messier and his wife Mary of Santa Barbara, CA; a daughter, Elaine Walczak and her husband Peter; step-daughter, Diane Laverdiere and her husband Robert of Allenstown; grandchildren, Christopher, Anna and Scott Casey Messier, Lorie Sabean, Sherri Palmer and her husband Glenn, Danielle and Brenna Walczak as well as 5 great grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. A brief committal service will be held on Thursday, April 27th 2017 at 11:00 in the chapel of Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leo’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive #110, Bedford, NH 03110.
